The Sanctuary at Roche Caiman, an urban wetland, is an important green space used for recreation and education by locals and visitors alike. Its location and proximity to Victoria makes it easy to visit.

Building coral reefs of the future

Coral reef restoration in Seychelles should not simply replace the corals that have been lost through climate change but must also build 'reefs of the future' that are resilient to future climate impacts, a group of regional and international coral reef experts have said. The coral experts were attending a technical meeting on coral reef restoration organised by Nature Seychelles in June.

Get a daily dose of green in Seychelles

Saturday July 2, 2011 marked another exciting milestone in the life of Nature Seychelles. This was  the official launching of Green Health Seychelles. Naval officers volunteer at wetland sanctuary

Naval officers from HMS Monmouth, a British Royal Naval ship, on Friday helped Nature Seychelles in maintenance work at the reserve, the Sanctuary at Roche Caiman. Managed by Nature Seychelles since 2002, this 2.9 ha wetland is home to  a varied list of plants and animals. Nature Seychelles has undertaken extensive restoration on the site, which resulted from reclamation work in the 80s, in order to enhance the pre-existing habitats and to create additional habitats. As result the reserve is a popular outdoor learning and relaxation area.
